Our World in Pictures, January 2025 (a collaboration)
We’re all artists documenting history.
Friends -
Early this month, I offered a simple experiment, asking folks to send in a photo that showed what their small corner of the world looked like in January. Other than a few asks (like no children or pets), I left the guidelines intentionally rather vague, eager to see how it was interpreted.
Over the last few weeks, it felt like 21 different artists building a small digital zine full of vignettes showing life around the world. It was fascinating to see what people chose to share - photos of devastating fires, road trips, basketball, dog walks, ice fishing - all intimate moments in such different ways. It was also a reminder that we’re all artists out here documenting history.
A huge, huge thank you to everyone who participated and gave us a small glimpse into your world.

Really fun series, Skylar! I regret we couldn’t get to Napa in time for a picture I hoped to add to the series. I think this should be a yearly addition to the Daily Grog
Fabulous idea and what a photo essay it turned out to be! Thanks for doing this.
