Maybe the heat from the hot spring made me feel a little light-headed. Or maybe the altitude. Whatever it was, I didn't have an answer ready for him right away.
Steph and I were at Las Termas de Papallacta with our Airbnb host, Maria, and her friend, Pablo. After a few hours of relaxing, healing, and chatting in the hot springs, Pablo asked what we have seen so far that is genuinely unique to Ecuador. The question took me a little off guard. Most people ask what we've seen, what we've eaten, what our favorite sight has been, etc. But this was a different kind of question. A reflective question. A question that only someone asks with a vested interest in the answer.
