Such beautiful photos! In our area, it is quaking aspen that turn bright yellow in fall. I would like to see a quaking aspen and a larch side by side for comparison. It is fascinating to see the larches change color so fast in your photos.
Those are great shots. Isn’t Steward impressive from there? My buddy nearly got pushed off that mountain by a goat one time. Really Iove that area … when there are fewer people.
Thank you! yeah i felt it looming over us the whole time, so powerful. and definitely a lot of people, the leaving the trailhead by car was absolute chaos haha
thank you! yeah they aren’t found in too many places - I think Colorado, WA, Idaho, and into Canada…maybe a few other places here and there too. But they are stunningly beautiful.

Thanks! Yeah the quacking aspens are pretty awesome too, would also be cool to have them in the mountain morning light like I had the larches
Gotta be honest, when I've seen these in person they look sickly to me. But your photos are changing my mind!
sickly! damn brutal haha. but it’s all about the light! the sunrise was pretty crazy and made the whole basin turn orange
Just. Oh my gosh, the internal screaming. 😍
(And also… am I the only one here who was introduced to The Larch by Monty Python?)
Beautiful!
thank you! :)
Damn! So pretty!!
These photos are amazing!! I had never heard of larches but wow are they beautiful!! Great post!!
