I drove through Oregon recently and it rained the whole week and it was exactly the right weather to see and explore the area.

Reminds me a lot of Scotland in the winter. You know it's going to be very cold and wet but you can prepare for it. It's always worth it because it's going to be deserted and at it's most beautiful in winter.

Living on the opposite side of the country makes it a bit of a hike to get there, but my wife and I did visit the Oregon coast many years ago, but it was blazing hot in the summer. At the time it seemed they were talking record temperatures during the heat wave. I’ll have to make it a point to get back there. I enjoyed this piece and the photos are wonderful.

Thanks Bob, I appreciate it! Where are you at on the east coast?

We were once on the Oregon coast for a super low tide. The tide pooling was amazing! But I've never tried seafoam. Thanks for the rec!

Loved this Skylar!! My family and I grew up going to Cannon Beach, and we're actually going again in May for the first time in several years. The coast is obviously great in summer, but there's something extra special about it during the winter or spring.

The rock reminds me of that in South Iceland (black sand beach, I think). Oregon is on bucket list some day. Sadly not just an overnight jaunt from Ohio

I never though of that but you're right, I think it did have some large obelisk type rocks out in the ocean. if you ever head to Oregon let me know!

Great photos, Skylar. The rocks in ocean remind me of various spots on NorCal coast. Oregon has a specialness, for its quiet and faraway feel. Beautiful.

Thanks Jeanine! Have you ever been to Patrick's Point/Sue-meg State Park in northern california? similar types of rocky energy there too, just a little more sun haha

Yes, Trinidad area. Very pretty. You know where else the rocks remind me of is near Jenner, in Sonoma County. There's a big ocean rock called Goat Rock, near Hwy 116. Love those rocks. And Big Sur has them too.

Tillamonk cheese and Bruce’s candy. And rocks in the middle of the ocean. I loved being there. Glad you do too

It is quite atmospheric with the clouds/fog interacting with the ocean. And you caught a surprising amount of people down on the beach in the cold! Quite a contrast to going to beaches in Los Angeles when I was a kid, and learning to body surf with no wet suit.
