They sound delightful! Did find any to be serving any small plates of food? The little cafe in my dad’s village in Greece is like this. Everyone gathers there to drink, talk politics, and play backgammon.

some do! but I don’t think it’s that common, mostly just coffee, TVs, and drinks haha

This sounds amazing! You're making me want to hit up the Balkans. I went to Serbia once (had a friend with a lake house) and the vibes were similar. Also, everyone was so hospitable!

ah for nice! When were you in Serbia? I was only in Belgrade for a little bit but have always wanted to go back.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of the lake. Our friend picked us up from the airport in Belgrade and drove us for 2 hours to his lake house. Along the way we saw a lot of gorgeous monasteries and monuments and ate a ton. The lake itself was surrounded by mountains and nature, the scenery reminded me a lot of Montana.

I wish that such kafes will endure against the times.

Me too! I hope we start to realize again how important these community spaces are to being human. Thanks for reading!

Love this. Your writing always brings me to the place, and in Europe, I know exactly what you’re taking about. We’re done with exciting traveling for a while now after this because of our dog’s age. Please remind me to support you again while it blends in with our last trips bills ( we’re at airport)💕
