I sure remember the smell when you cooked those sardines, in a small kitchen with no exhaust fan, lol. ( It also seemed like you had to cook them in several batches, which took some time). And I like your photo series with the article, showing the visual story of what transpired- we just needed one final photo of one of us holding our nose while watching you cook the sardines 😂
As you have a wonderful story to share, undoubtedly so do they! Image the impacts of us all just reaching out a little bit, now and again, to people we don’t know. Even in our own backyards.
Before my wife and I moved to Spain permanently over 20 years ago, before Google Translate existed, we went into a patisserie in Ronda, Andalusia with 2 friends to order cakes. We could not remember what “four” was in Spanish, so we asked for “dos-dos”. If looks could have killed, but we got the four cakes.
Great story Skylar, and I really like the accompanying photos too! I also prefer to visit coastal areas in the winter. The desolation somehow appeals to me.
Nice! Sounds like a good meal in the making! Nice pics....
It was pretty good improv if I do say so myself! Thanks for reading Søren, I appreciate it!
Amazing! Super fresh!
I've come around to sardines after years of aversion. They're very healthy for you, too!
Right?? They’re pretty tasty!

haha glad you liked it, hopefully brought back some memories
What a fun and great story. You nailed it!!
Haha thanks Jeanine!
This all sounds so familiar, when we used to rent villas in Spain every year with hardly a word of Spanish.
I bet it was a great time! Sardines too??
