Long but short about your whole article: joined insta in 2020 to get my travel fix with others’ travel posts since travel was banned. Found Daily Grog from your Iceland post cuz we were going and you guys popped up via insta magic. You gave me so many leads that I followed!!!! Even the best path to that volcano! Rest is history. I use insta to get ideas from “real people” and it has been great. But it stops there. There’s a lot of fake out there (not you). There’s def no in depth info that’s needed for an entire trip on insta. We need the old fashioned writing (point: the writer you reference in your article) to back up insta claims. Thus, I too found myself relying recently on Rick Steve’s (your guy again in your post) and other tactile travel guides (lonely planet etc) to back up my research. I know I can trust your travel guides on your blog too (just haven’t been to those places yet) and your dm answers to my questions. Keep writing about your travel!!! And to answer Stephs question: would go back to the exploring volcano! But in reality, hope to be back in 2025 - 2024 booked already 😂
Very kind words, thank you! But totally agree, there's so much noise out there it's hard to sift through it all. It's such a hard balance between discoverability and depth, especially when depth really isn't prioritized these days. But it's so important because people do care! There's still a desire and hunger for it, just takes a little longer and more leg work to seek it out.
What part of Iceland would you explore if you went back?
So many! more time in the westfjords, the north, east and the entire center of the country (but
I think you can only do that in summer)
Ahh good to know!
